WHO & WHY??
Why is this site here? Who am I and why do I want you to visit this site? All of your questions (not really) answered here!
Marcy Petricig Braasch here. Everyone said I should have a picture. No one said I couldn't pick a ridiculous one. Here's me fencing in a 250 lb. dress whose tight and oddly resting sleeve things hampered my every move. I can comfortably assure you that women who wore dresses like this did not fence. Or if they did, they died rapidly.
I am a traditional illustrator. Like most pencil/pen dorks, I've been at it since I was a child. I don't do digital drawings - although I do some touchup work and background bits digitally, but generally speaking I'm a paper hack.
INFLUENCES. You care? Ok -- I have roots in cartooning - my style is more Jeff MacNelly & Garry Trudeau over Bil Keane or Charles Schulz. I am a forever devotee of the great Al Hirschfeld, although my work is nothing like his - I'm just a fan of his brilliance. Big cartooning influences: Berk Breathed, as well as Gary Larson and Bill Watterson. Fine artists influences? I will always love Michelangelo Buonarroti and JW WaterHouse. Rubens too, but that's because everyone loves a good set of boobs, and I am no exception.
My fantasy faves are the unparalleled Boris Vallejo and also Gerald Brom. Have you seen his stuff? Outstanding.
WHAT WILL YOU SEE HERE?
Weird stuff, I hope. Lots of tentacles. Animal and human mixes. Innocent things with a weird twist. Nothing horrific, just... not quite right. Everything I produce comes straight out of the bowels of my brain, unless otherwise commissioned by someone else's brain, and even then, my grey matter still adds whatever creepy tendencies lie within.
I love feedback but don't like meanness, so if you're one of those - just do like your mama said and keep quiet.
